BROOKLYN R&B DUO BATHE RELEASES "BICOASTAL: B SIDES" DOUBLE SINGLE TODAY

BONUS TRACKS "CONEY ISLAND" AND "VARIATIONS" FROM PREVIOUS ALBUM BICOASTAL 25MIL+ STREAMS TO DATE

Brooklyn-based duo Bathe—consisting of Corey Smith-West (guitar) and Devin Hobdy (vocals)—released a double single, Bicoastal: B Sides (via MNRK Music Group), today. The two tracks, “Coney Island” and “Variations,” were recorded in the sessions that led to Bathe’s previous album, 2021’s Bicoastal, which has captivated fans and amassed over 25 million streams.

Emerging from the vibrant NYC scene of left-of-center R&B artists, Bathe has carved out their own lane with a unique blend of lush, sunny tones and soulful harmonies. This distinctive sound, known as "Surf R&B," draws inspiration from their Afro-Caribbean roots. They first captured widespread attention with their critically acclaimed 2019 EP, I'll Miss You. However, "Bicoastal" truly put them on the map.

Bathe says, “‘Coney Island’ is a song about the ending of a summer romance. It’s about letting go of someone you had a lot of fun with but who ultimately didn’t even know you all that well—spending your last night together meandering around Coney Island until the sun comes up. Sometimes, the timing is just all wrong. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy a summer night together.”

Bathe continues, “‘Variations’ about all the people you can become when you’re in a toxic relationship. Those times, it feels like you don’t recognize yourself in the mirror. Five years into a relationship, you’ll wake up a different person than you were initially. ‘Variations’ is about our mistakes as we change and the patient love that gets us through.”

Stay tuned for new album news from Bathe in 2024.

Bathe  will be throwing a “secret” party in celebration of their Bicoastal: B Sides  on  May 11th on Coney Island RSVP here.
